Revanta has close to two decades of experience in Intellectual Property matters. His experience consists of IP disputes & prosecution, IP transactional & commercialisation and IP strategy.

Revanta has represented several Fortune 500 and Fortune 100 companies and also several large Indian corporations in the adoption, protection and enforcement of their IP in India and also other countries along with advising them on the growth and sustainability of their IP. He has also conducted due diligence for companies acquiring IP assets along with other transactional advisory. Revanta has advised companies on the vetting of advertisements and other compliance issues along with drafting and vetting IP commercial agreements & brand manuals.

Revanta regularly appears before the Trade Marks Office for opposition and cancellation hearings and has also appeared before the IP Division of the High Court along with the Intellectual Property Appellate Board (now abolished), apart from being actively involved in settlement discussions, negotiations and alternative dispute resolution strategies for clients. He has also handled domain disputes before the .IN Registry under the INDRP and complaints before ICANN under UDRP.

Revanta is a regular at the International Trademark Association (INTA) Annual Meetings having attended the same regularly since the year 2008 and has served on several Committees including Unreal Campaign, Emerging Issues, Internet Committee and Commercialization of Brands Committee. Revanta has moderated sessions at the INTA Annual Meeting in the years 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 and was also a speaker in the year 2014. Revanta had also attended the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) General Assembly and Council Meetings.

He has been associated with various National Conferences and Seminars including those organized by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce (FICCI) and Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA), amongst others. Revanta has regularly been invited by various forums to share insights and speak on important issues in the IP field. Revanta has conducted training sessions for the Cell for IPR Promotion and Management (CIPAM) set up by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry by the Government. He has also taught an online certification course on Trademarks law in conjunction with a leading University in India in the year 2021-22. Revanta has taken an active part in workshops with clients at their plants and offices to strategize with the marketing and distribution teams along with creating awareness of IP amongst the teams.

 

Relevant Experience:

  • Represented an Indian bed linen manufacturer and exporter, on its acquisition of a global home fashion brand from a US based company for USD 10.25 million.

  • Worked with a top wearable brand in the world in its negotiations with a leading global private equity fund, to raise approximately USD 100 million.
  • Represented a leading French fashion house in their mult-jurisdiction settlement of contentious proceedings with an Indian multinational consumer goods company.
